Champions League: Brits' success, Inter win

Rangers and Barcelona will clash in the Champions League later this month with 100% records at stake after both sides made it two wins out of two in Group E tonight.

While the Light Blues enjoyed a sublime 3-0 win at Lyon, group favourites Barca beat Stuttgart 2-0 in Germany.

Frank Rijkaard's side initially looked out of sorts and had goalkeeper Victor ValdesVictor Valdes to thank for being level at the break after some excellent saves.

They capitalised in the second half when Carles Puyol, on as a substitute for the injured Rafael Marquez, headed home before being withdrawn himself.

Lionel Messi soon made it 2-0, starting and finishing a move featuring excellent work from Thierry Henry.

Barca meet Rangers at Ibrox on October 23.

In Group F, Sporting Lisbon bounced back from an opening defeat at home to Manchester United by beating Dynamo Kiev 2-1 in the Ukraine.

While United made it consecutive wins by beating Roma 1-0, Tonel gave Sporting an early advantage before Vladislav Vashchuk levelled for the home side.

However, Anderson Polga restored Sporting's lead to ensure the Portuguese outfit enjoyed a welcome victory.

In Group H Arsenal edged Steaua Bucharest 1-0 in Romania while Sevilla, who were humbled by the Gunners in the opening game, took out their frustration on Slavia Prague.

Juande Ramos' side beat the Czech outfit 4-2 at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Frederic KanouteFrederic Kanoute gave them a ninth-minute lead but Daniel Pudil quickly levelled for the Champions League outsiders.

Kanoute's strike partner Luis Fabiano restored the lead before the break after good work down the wing by the Mali international.

Defender Julien Escude's header put the game firmly beyond Slavia in the second half and substitute Arouna Kone wrapped up the win before David Kalivoda's consolation.

Cristian ChivuIn Group G, 10-man Inter Milan made amends for the recent defeat by Fenerbahce with a commendable 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.

A Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty gave Inter an early lead at the San Siro and he doubled the advantage from open play shortly after the half-hour mark.

Cristian Chivu was sent off for a second caution after 65 minutes.

Also in Group G, Deivid De Souza struck with five minutes remaining to earn a 2-2 draw for Fenerbahce in an error-strewn match at CSKA Moscow.
