NFL Week 2 Betting - Eagles could be McNabb-less against Saints

Get NFL Tickets on StubHub!NFL Week 2 betting for Sunday’s Philadelphia-New Orleans game could take a turn, as the Eagles’ No.1 quarterback could be missing for this meeting of two high-powered offenses.

Sportsbook Saints at Eagles Odds – Sunday, September 20, 1:00 PM ET

Drew Brees tied a franchise record with six touchdown passes in a 45-27 shootout win over the Lions, and it’s frightening to think of what kind of numbers the quarterback will put up with a healthy group of weapons. Jeremy Shockey caught a pair of scores, while Mike Bell ran for 143 yards for the Saints. However, the offense committed three turnovers, cancelling out Detroit’s three turnovers, and this kept putting the defense in a bad position. They only gave up 231 yards, but 27 points is far too high, especially against the Lions.

The Eagles rolled to a 38-10 rout of Carolina, as they forced an insane seven turnovers out of the Panthers. However, those who bet on the Eagles’ Super Bowl odds took a deep breath when Donovan McNabb left the game with possibly fractured ribs. It’s not looking good for McNabb, and Michael Vick can’t play until Week 3. This leaves A.J. Feeley or Kevin Kolb as the quarterback. Feel good about that, Philly fans?

The Eagles are early 2-point favorites at home against the Saints, who have lost four of their five trips to the City of Brotherly Love. It was good for Brees and the Saints’ offense to get some confidence, and they may need it as the Eagles are a MUCH tougher defense than the Lions. Brees has averaged 286 yards in three meetings with the Eagles, but he still has five touchdowns, along with the same number of interceptions. We think the Eagles can live with giving up a lot of points, but keeping the Saints out of the end zone. The problem is, can they keep the Saints quiet enough to give either Kolb or Feeley a chance if McNabb can’t play? We don’t think so. Watch this NFL betting line closely all week, but go with the Saints in a sports betting software upset.
