Lee Evans gets Derrick Mason's No. 85 ![]()
Wide receiver Lee Evans has passed his physical and practiced with the Baltimore Ravens for the first time.
Obtained Friday in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, Evans is expected to fill the void created when Derrick Mason was cut last month.
Evans was given Mason's No. 85, the only number in the 80s that was not already taken. But Evans wearing 85 on Saturday was also symbolic, because he assumes Mason's role as quarterback Joe Flacco's second target behind Anquan Boldin.
The addition of the 30-year-old Evans makes the Ravens younger at the position. Mason is 37.
Evans eliminates a critical need for Baltimore, which still could use a veteran backup quarterback and depth on the offensive line.
