Keon LattimoreFriday Night in  week 5 of the 2007 NCAA football season, Online Sportsbooks is previewing a College Football game of two top-25 rated teams which will definitely make for an exciting match-up. The West Virginia Mountaineers (ranked 5) take on a tough South Florida Bulls (ranked 18).

The winner of the game between Mountaineers (4-0) and Bulls (3-0) gets an early lead in the Big East standings and would have to be considered the league favorite.

In the week four, the Mountaineers crushed East Carolina 48-7 to improve to 4-0 season record. The  West Virginia 2007 team leaders include; quarterback Patrick White completing 49 passes on 69 attempts for 617 yards with six touchdowns. Steve SlatonSteve Slaton leads in rushing with 84 carries for 502 yards with nine touchdowns and wide receiver Darius Reynaud leads in receiving with 23 receptions for 335 yards with four touchdowns. The Mountaineers are allowing 186.3 passing yards per game after giving up 243.3 last season - 109th in the nation.

"I said, 'You all know who is next.' They blurted it out," Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez said Saturday after his team defeated East Carolina 48-7. "People talk about revenge, but that's not a great motivator. They are excited about trying to play better than we did against them last year."

During week four the South Florida Bulls beat North Carolina 37-10 to improve to a 3-0. The Bulls team leaders include; quarterback Matt GrotheMatt Grothe completing 58 passes on 96 attempts for 652 yards with four touchdowns, Mike Ford leads in rushing with 33 carries for 170 yards with four touchdowns and wide receiver Taurus Johnson leads in receiving with 13 receptions for 150 yards. NCAA Football Betting Trends

- West Virginia and South Florida are both 5-0 SU in last 5
- total has gone OVER in 7 of last 10 games for West Virginia
- South Florida is 5-0 SU in last 5 at home
- West Virginia is 10-3 ATS in last 13 road games

Final Verdict

The double edged offensive sword of the Mountaineers, with White shredding the secondary and Slaton carving up the front seven, is going to be far more effective then the one man army of Matt Grothe. This is a statement game for the Mountaineers in a lot of ways. They need to reassert themselves in the Big East after last year’s loss to the Bulls and Pat White needs a big game to vault himself up in to Heisman contention. Look for the fifth ranked Mountaineers to take care of business in this one.
