UFC 100 Odds - Lots of action outside of the title fights

Posted on 07/11/2009

Those looking at Saturday’s UFC 100 odds will see that there are some entertaining bouts on the UFC 100 fight card other than the two heavyweight fights, and here is a look at the three televised fights that will lead up to Georges St. Pierre-Thiago Alves and Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir.

UFC 100 odds – Saturday, July 11, 9:00 PM ET, Las Vegas

Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago - Welterweight

Fitch (18-3) is a -500 favorite in your offshore sportsbook against Thiago (11-0), who knocked out Fitch’s teammate, Josh Koscheck, in his last fight. Fitch rebounded from a loss to GSP at UFC 87 by beating Akihiro Goro in a decision, and his last four fights have gone the distance. Meanwhile, Thiago has ended three of his last four fights in the first round, so the longer it goes, the more of an advantage Fitch has.

Dan Henderson vs Michael Bisbing - Middleweight

These two faced off as coaches in the ninth season of the “Ultimate Fighter”, and USA coach Henderson (24-7) is a -240 favorite to beat Bisbing (17-1), whose UK team dismantled the Americans. Henderson is coming off a split-decision victory over Rich Franklin at UFC 93, while Bisbing defeated Chris Leben in a unanimous decision at UFC 89. The winner of this becomes the No.1 contender to Anderson Silva’s middleweight title, so you can bet that neither fighter will hold back on Saturday night in Las Vegas. This should be an exciting fight to make sports picks for.

Yoshiro Akiyama vs Alan Belcher – Middleweight

Akiyama (12-1, 2 NC) will make his UFC debut as a -260 favorite against Belcher (17-5), who beat Jason Kane with a guillotine at UFC 93. Akiyama is a very well-rounded fighter who has surprising knockout power, while Belcher prefers to try and end the fight earlier, although he is 3-1 when the fight goes the distance. A number of Akiyama’s fights have ended in controversial fashion, but that doesn’t take away from his skill, which has made him the ninth-ranked middleweight in the world. Belcher can move up the ranks with an online betting upset win over Akiyama, so make sure you do your research before going to your gambling software.
