Tour de France betting update - Airwaves, track both quiet in Stage 10 ![]()
Maybe British Open betting will bring more excitement tomorrow? Stage 10 of the Tour de France was hyped as a potentially significant point in the race after earpieces and TV sets in cars were banned. The idea was to create drama by forcing the riders to go without crucial strategic tools, but the reverse effect happened.
Were you hoping Lance Armstrong’s sportsbook Tour de France odds would take a big jump on what was supposed to be a potential “moving day”? Well, it turns out no one make a major move, and I’m betting management of the event has egg on its face now. Instead of running wild without technology, the riders were all tentative without communication. The entire pack crawled when it was supposed to sprint.
Mark Cavendish had to push a bit in the final stretch but held on to take the stage. The overall standings haven’t changed much at the top; Rinaldo Nocentini still has the lead and is a safe bet in your sports predictions to maintain it over stages 11 and 12, as they’re flat stages.
If you’re hoping for Armstrong (third overall), Alberto Contador (second) and the other Astana riders to make a major move, keep your eye on Stage 13 – it’s a climb stage that could lead to mistakes by Nocentini and open the door for a lead change.
The 13th stage is supposed to be another radio-free stage, but don’t count on it happening again. Armstrong suggested in an interview that the uproar from riders over not having radio should be enough to end the experiment. Expect full radio, full TV and much more aggressive riding Friday.
Next up, the Tour reaches Vatan, a Stage town for the first time, for Stage 11.
